aruga!!!! a cry for help from the okupas, squats, of les planes
hello people, we are the occupants of el castillo, the little castle in les planes, that was the washing house for the sanitorium of tibedabu-built in 1903 by architect Joan Rubi i Bellver-(on the outskirts of barcelona)where we have been living for about 2 and a half years . Living here and working on restoring this place from a complete ruin back to a the state of a inhabitable building. before we moved into it the owner had abandoned the place for more than 35 years. once we moved in of course they suddenly developed an interest. we have been fighting a legal battle in the courts for the last 1 and a half years. recently we got an eviction notice dated for the 25 of january. unfortunately we are not the only squatters in our neighbourhood concerned by the problem of eviction. les planes, an area that used to be mostly forest with little houses of which many where squatted, is more and more turning into a suburb. the forest is getting cut down to make space for development and what's left of it is being cleared out and turned into a park nice and clean, with no bushes and lots of lighting. an environment suitable for upper middle class and upper class people but not for the myriad of wildlife (and wild people :-) that used to be here before. we don't want to let that happen. lots of houses have been evicted already and more are going to be in the near future. today our neighbours, 4 connected houses, 2 of them housing families with children been given an eviction notice for the 21st of january. since most houses in this area are small and low impact and therefore the amount of people living in them is very limited the chances to resist an eviction are rather small. not so for us. our building is defendable and we are planning to defend it. if possible in a non violent way. if you want to support/help us just come along at any date and time (if possible before the 25th.!!!) there is sleeping space for many people as well as a garden to pitch tents in (be aware it's pretty cold outside). the approximate program for the the period around the 25th goes as follows: now until ?ø?ø building barricades, securing doors and preparing the house to stop a eventual police force from entering night 24th. party with electronic music of various styles, bar with nice selection of affordable drinks from 25th on every day for at least 1 - 2 weeks in the days: various activities, workshops, etc.         free vegetarian food at night: parties and concerts of all styles of music updates and more exact information on the program will be posted soon. if anyone is interested in playing here please get in contact with us. contact adresses: lostnowhere ARROBA mailpanda.com (english, castellano, deutsch,) vitaminx ARROBA gawab.com (english, deutsch)             hattinthecat ARROBA eircom.net (english,castellano) Hallo Leute! Wir sind die Besetzer vom El Castillo, der kleinen Burg in Les Planes (am Rand von Barcelona). Wir haben die Burg vor zweieinhalb Jahren besetzt und seitdem leben wir hier und arbeiten daran, die Ruine wieder zu einem bewohnbaren Haus aufzubauen. Vor unserer Besetzung stand das Haus mehr als 35 Jahre leer. Seitdem wir drin sind, hat der Besitzer natuerlich ein ploetzliches Interesse daran entwickelt. Wir haben in den letzten eineinhalb Jahren vor Gericht fuer das Squat gekaempft. Kuerzlich bekamen wir dann einen Raeumungsaufruf fuer den 25. Januar. Leider sind wir nicht die einzigen Squatter in unserer Nachbarschaft, die mit Raeumungsbefehlen konfrontiert sind. Les Planes, ein Gebiet was groesstenteils aus Wald und kleinen Haeusern besteht, von denen viele gesquattet sind, veraendert sich mehr und mehr in Richtung Vorstadtsiedlung. Der Wald soll gerodet werden, um Platz fuer die Stadtentwicklung zu schaffen, was davon dann noch uebrigbleibt, soll in nette und saubere Parks umgewandelt werden. Eine Umgebung passend fuer die obere Mittelklasse und Oberklasse, jedoch nicht fuer die vielfaeltige Wildnis (incl. wilde Menschen :-), die diese Gegend bewohnen. Wir wollen nicht, dass das passiert. Viele Haeuser wurden bereits und mehrere sollen in naechster Zukunft geraeumt werden. Heute hat unsere Nachbarschaft (4 nahgelegene Haeuser, in 2 davon wohnen Familien mit Kindern) Raeumungsaufrufe fuer den 21. Januar bekommen. Da die meisten davon ziemlich klein sind und nicht allzuviele Leute darin wohnen, sind die Chancen, sie zu verteidigen, nicht allzuhoch. Nicht so fuer uns. Unser Haus ist gut zu verteidigen und wir haben auch vor, das zu tun. Wenn moeglich, auf gewaltlosem Weg. Wenn du/ihr uns supporten wollt, kommt zum Zeitpunkt eurer Wahl vorbei (moeglichst vor dem 25.!!!). Es sind einige Schlafplaetze vorhanden (Improvisation ist kein Problem :), ihr koennt auch eure Zelte im Garten aufbauen (Vorsicht - ist kalt draussen). Das ungefaehre Programm fuer den Zeitraum um den 25. sieht folgendermassen aus: jetzt bis ??? : Barrikaden bauen, Tueren sichern und das Haus vorbereiten, um der Polizei das Eindringen moeglichst unmoeglich zu machen :) die Nacht zum 25. : Party mit elektronischer Musik aus unterschiedlichen Richtungen, Bar mit netter Auswahl bezahlbarer Getraenke vom 25. an jeden Tag fuer mindestens 1-2 Wochen : tagsueber: verschiedene Aktivitaeten, Workshops, etc., kostenloses Veggieessen; nachts: Parties und Konzerte unterschiedlicher Musikrichtungen Updates und konkretere Informationen zum Programm und aktuellem Status posten wir demnaechst.
