There are no reports of injuries following an explosion across the street from the presidential palace in Venezuela early Friday morning. |
The headquarters of President Hugo Chavez's Guard of Honor was damaged by what authorities claim to be a bomb thrown from a vehicle. The president was not evacuated from his palace in downtown Caracas.
Six suspects have been arrested, say government representatives, but their connection to the incident is not known.
The explosion was the fifth in the nation's capital this year. Other targets have included the offices of the national oil company, the Colombian consulate, the Spanish embassy, and a site of international discussions about political tensions in Venezuela. |
