Los sin papeles decidirán hoy si ir a la huelga de hambre |
"Va a venir a la delegación gente que no son inmigrantes y que dicen que hablan por ellos, pero nosotros hemos intentando hablar directamente con los inmigrantes y nos hemos encontrando con un pacto de silencio" (subdelegación del gobierno, EL PAIS, 15 de junio)
En esta ocasión la asamblea se debió haber realizado dentro de la iglesia de san agustín, pero a última hora el parroco recibió presiones externas y se negó a abrir la iglesia a los inmigrantes, con lo cual, tuvieron que realizar dicha asamblea en la plaza de san agustín.
Se leyó el texto - en varios idiomas- con la contestación que les dió la subdelegación del gobierno, y abrieron un turno de propuestas.
Recordaron que el sábado iban a participar en las dos manifestaciones convocadas por la plataforma aturem la guerra y contra la precariedad y el forum.
Casi finalizando la asamblea una persona comunicó que ella porponía relaizar una huelga de hambre este fin de semana en la plaza de san jaume y al lado del forum2004.
Esta persona fue interrumpida varias veces por aplausos y gritos de papeles para todos.
Al final, otra persona propuso que en la asamblea que se ha convocado para hoy viernes en la rambla del raval, con motivo de ver como ha ido la reunión con Adela Ros, se decidirían el ir o no a la huelga de hambre.
Todos estuvieron de acuerdo.
Así pues hoy viernes los inmigrantes se volverán a reunir en asamblea a las tres de la tarde en la rambla del raval. |

The "sin papales" decided today whether to go on hunger strike [or not].
"people go to the delegation [of the Spanish Government] who are not immingrants, and say they speak for them, but we have tried to speak directly with the immigrants and have met silence" (subdelegation of the Spanish State government in Catalonia to the daily newspaper "EL PAIS", 15th day of June)
The assembly was supposed to take place in the church of Saint Augustine, but at the last moment the parish office bowing to external pressure, refused to open the doors of the church to the immigrants who thus held their assembly in the square [Saint Augustine Square is in the Ravel quarter of Barcelona next to "jerusalem street", the Ravel is a high density immigrant residential area, which is currently in a program of urban regeneration which runs till 2009]
The text containing the communiqué from the Delegation of the Spanish State Government to Catalonia was read, in various languages,
and then the floor was opened to questions and comments.
[The assembly] was reminded that on saturday, they were going to participate in two demonstrations, called by the Assembly "Auturem la Guerra!" (Stop War!) and against economic insecurity and against Forum2004.
When the assembly was almost finished, one person communicated their intent to go on hunger strike (fast) this weekend at Placa S Jaume (the square located between Catalonia's government and Barcelona's Council) and by the Forum 2004 complex.
This person was interrupted on various occasions by applause and cries of "papers for everyone!"
At the end, another person proposed that a assembly be called for today Friday (18th June - [ J18 the RTS! anniversary!!!]) and that it be held on the Rambla de Ravel (which runs through the centre of the Ravel quarter parallel to the Ramblas) and therein the assembly might see how the meeting with Adela Ros had gone, they would then (be able) to decide whether (or not) to go on hunger strike (/fast).
Everyone was in agreement.
Therefore today Friday (J18!!! :-)) the immigrants will return to assembly at 3pm on the Rambla del Raval. |
