On 2 May 2015, a day after the rally, and on the sole criterion of their departure from an occupied social center, they were abducted by the italian police and detained for several hours without an interpreter, and later were released with no charges accused.

Six months later, the police and the prosecutor authorities of Milan, in order to disorientate the public from the scandals and the judicial investigations about the dealings between the Mafia and the Expo 2015, proceeded to the prosecution of 10 of the protesters from Italy and Greek of the May Day strike. Thus, 5 Greek students with clean criminal records are faced with a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) – procedure that is used exclusively in legal cases concerning serious crimes like human and drug trafficking.

It is the first time from the day the European Arrest Warrant was established, that an extradition from one EU state to another has been recorded and requested for protests and political actions. It is clear that we are experiencing an unprecedented and extremely worrying issue of an effort to criminalize the freedom of expression, political activities and international solidarity.

The above are the reasons that one should fight against the extradition of the 5 students to Italy, and the cessation of the political prosecution of both the 5 Greek students and the 5 Italian activists.
