13 November 2014. Four days before the anniversary of the students revolt in Greece against the dictatorship regime in 1973, the self-proclaimed democratic greek government, in collaboration with the Athens universities authorities, without any prior notification, surrounded and closed down all universities in Athens with scores of riot policemen and police bikers.
Although such an action shows that the regime seems scared and trembles in the idea of just an anniversary of a revolt 41 years ago, this actually had the opposite effect. Instead of students getting scared this kind of tactic aggravated the situation in a deteriorating higher education system with no actual future. So on Thursday morning (13/11/2014) students tried to go to classes in various universities in Athens and Thessaloniki only to be attacked by the riot police. This lead to a new protest in the evening with even more people in the center of Athens that approached the Polytechnic School of Athens at Exarcheia to hold an assembly.

13 de novembre de 2014, quatre dies abans de l'aniversari de la revolta dels estudiants a Grècia contra el règim de la dictadura el 1973, el govern autoproclamat democràtic grec, en col·laboració amb les autoritats de les universitats d'Atenes, sense cap tipus de notificació prèvia, ha envoltat i tancat totes les universitats en Atenes amb desenes de policies antiavalots i motoristes de la policia.
Tot i que aquesta acció mostra que el règim sembla estar espantat i que tremola amb la idea d'un aniversari d'una revolta fa 41 anys, aquest fet ha tingut l'efecte contrari. En comptes d'espantar estudiants aquest tipus de tàctica ha agreujat la situació en un sistema d'educació superior deteriorat sense futur real. Així que el matí de dijous (2014.11.13) els estudiants van tractar d'anar a classes en diverses universitats d'Atenes i Tessalònica sent atacats per la policia antiavalots. Això va conduir a una nova protesta a la nit amb fins i tot més persones al centre d'Atenes que es va acostar a l'Escola Politècnica d'Atenes en Exarchia per celebrar una assemblea.
