Call to the People of Barcelona
We, workers of TMB, have call strike on February 27th, 28th and 29th and on March 1st, in order to defend the public tranportation system and our work conditions.
Barcelona city council, TMB’s directive board and heads of big mass media corporations came out and undervalued our protest and said that during these days a huge event will be staged in town. We told them that there are things more important than that, one of them : RESPECT.
Respect towards the barcelona inhabitants was not shown by neither Barcelona city council nor TMB’s directive board when the BUS and METRO was downgraded, nor now, when the public transportation price is being increased to an intolerable cost.
Respect towards the workers of both these companies was not shown by neither by neither Barcelona city council nor TMB’s directive board when it was time for them not to abide the colective contracts signed for 2011 and 2012.
Barcelona city council, TMB’s directive board and heads of big mass media corporations say that the International Mobile Congress is an open window of Barcelona to the world. We agree. All the international media will be here.
For this reason, we call the Barcelona people to come to Plaça de Espanya during these four days, in the morning and in the evening, and show the world, side by side with TMB’s workers, that we have a city council and a Catalonia government that are willing to give to the people worst health care services, worst public schools and worst public transportation at a higher rate. And by doing this, they are downgrading people’s lives even more.
Not only that, by pursuing this action we will be able to show the world that we have a city council and a government that are pursuing neoliberal politics that will only leed to a more precarious employement, with lower wages and new laws that make dismissals even easier, both in public as in the private sector. Each day we have even more poor working people, more unemployed people without any protection, without being able to pay for their homes, and because of that, being forced to leave their homes. Knocked down by the police when they try to demonstrate against this situation of blackmail by the ones in charge of both the city council and the autonomic government.
We should transform the Plaça Espanya into a Plaça Catalunya
For that we encourage the barcelona people to take a direct action, to actively resist, to block, to occupy or whatever strugle methode fits in order to show the world, during the International Mobile Congress, that the barcelona people demands RESPECT. |
