When does Mobile World Congress take place?
The Conference and Exhibition at Mobile World Congress will begin Monday, 27 February and will conclude Thursday, 1 March 2012.
Past attendees should note the “Opening Keynotes” will now occur on Monday, 27 February, and not on Tuesday as in previous years.

GSMA Statement on Planned Barcelona Public Transport Strike
The metro and bus workers from TMB, the main public transport operator in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, have announced plans to strike during the GSMA Mobile World Congress taking place 27 February – 1 March 2012. This planned strike could potentially impact public transportation in Barcelona, including buses and metro, across the four days of the event.
The GSMA understands that this could present a significant concern for attendees of Mobile World Congress. We are currently working with authorities from the city of Barcelona and the region of Catalonia to assess this situation and to develop contingency plans to address this issue. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.

To the international media,
Bus and subway strike in Barcelona during the Mobile World Congress 2012
(February 27th, 28th and 29th and March 1st )
By this mean we inform you that Barcelona BUS and METRO workers (TMB) declared strike of public transportation throughout the city due to breach of employment agreements, cut back of public services and increment of rates.
The Mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, is the main responsible of the current situation: a poorer but more expensive public transport system and, moreover, the breach of employment agreements with TMB employees.
This whole situation lead to a situation of great concern and tension among both workers and users and, ultimately, is resulting in open conflict that will have huge impact in Barcelona, specially because it will happen during the Mobile World Congress (2012).
Workers and users of public transportation will protest outside the Mobile World Congress during the 4 days its being held.
Barcelona BUS and METRO Workers (TMB) hope that the City Council and the TMB leadership rethink this situation and uphold the agreements signed previously in the workplace.
