The many suspicious deaths in the Italian prisons
16 nov 2009
"That never happens again! Che serva da lezione!».
To serve as a lesson. "It's a script bitter and common one for which a result of a very serious moves up the most obvious and desperate to pay heed.

Although this gesture may give some temporary and illusory sense of hope, we should have understood by now that wish is not enough and that perhaps it should be more telling by the thread and mark what happens, constantly observe and analyze the relationships between facts, cultivate the habit of remembering what happened and want not happen again.

When we talk about what happens in Italian prisons, in fact, a good starting point may be the realization that the so-called "chumps" was anything but an accident.
In Italian prisons are dying on average 150 inmates per year one-third by suicide, one third to "natural causes" and the remainder to "cause to be established.
Deaths from suicide are an impressive figure: with 1005 confirmed cases since 1990, committed suicide in prison there twenty times more than outside.
It is also a fact that increases exponentially with increasing overcrowded: in the last year, an increase of twenty percent of the prison population is matched by an increase in suicide close to 50 percent.
The number of deaths "caused by" investigating, then, they are often tragic and disturbing to shed light on which it is virtually impossible, even in the face of uncertain assessments and documentation, especially without the attentions of the media and the presence of certain families like Stephen Cucchi.

The center studies the narrow horizon, which for years dealing with this issue prison with precision and expertise, presents a picture of South American dictatorships.
"Dying for" heart attack "with his head crushed by" suicide "with bruises and contusions in different parts of the body.
What you can not see, but sometimes emerges from the medical reports (as and when arranged and then is given the outcome) have broken ribs, spleen and liver "mushy", injuries and internal bleeding.

This is revealed by the world press, from the experts, from photographs (when they get there) and this is what we just witness. "A report brings together thirty cases of deaths from dubious circumstances occurring since 2002.

They range from Stefano Guidotti, 32, found hanging from the bars of the bathroom, but with his face covered with bruises and a series of spots of blood on the floor, Kolic Andon, 30 years, Albanian, who kills himself after 35 days of hunger strike.
"I'd rather die," he said, "rather than staying here from innocent."
By Mauro Faithful, prisoners in Cuneo, who is diagnosed with death for "circulatory arrest" as his father's complaint a "body bruised, his head bandaged and blue marks on her neck, chest, on both sides and 'inner thighs, and right or left, "Marco De Simone, with mental health problems, which is declared" incompatible with the prison regime "but it is still detained and hangs himself 48 hours after arriving in Rebibbia.

Then there's Marcello Lonzi officially dead, "heart failure", whose photos tell of a clearly battered body bruises.
The same for Habteab Eyasu, 36, Eritrean, who kills himself by hanging himself in an isolation cell of the penitentiary House of Civitavecchia.
The photos show a wound on his forehead and a large spot of blood behind his head.
There is the case of Aldo Bianzino, one of the few who managed to get some attention from the media.
Bianzino was arrested October 12, 2007 and died on Sunday 14.
When they find his body, doctors found the conditions of his liver, mashed.
There Eliantonio Manuel, 22, who wrote: "Dear Mother, here I beat her to death at least once a week and fill me with drugs ...».
He was found dead in a bathroom of the prison in Marassi, Genoa (!!!!), his face covered with bruises.

In some of these cases, the drama of even the paradoxical implications, such as Gianluca Fran, 31, who committed suicide by hanging himself to a tube with the discharge of water, to Bari in jail.
There's a detail, however: Frani paraplegic and was semi-paralyzed.
Or the case of Sotaj Satoj, 40 years, Albanian, who died in hospital intensive care department of Lecce after three months of hunger strike.
After his death, the agents continued to guarded for hours: I think he was pretending, groped for the escape.
Even Andrea Mazzariello, 50, a paraplegic and confined to a wheelchair, commits suicide by hanging himself with a pipe with water of bathrobe cord.
His general practitioner had prescribed doses of morphine to combat the excruciating back pain that forced him on the wheelchair.
Morphine which was inexplicably denied: according to his doctor, "why he took his life." And then dozens of other cases of mysterious deaths, deaths of children in full health due to generic "lost", suicide and unexplained behavior irresponsible on the part of authorities.
Stories horribly frequent in those hells on earth, which are the Italian prisons: to remember, recount and report without pausing because really, once and for all, no longer happens.
