On Sunday, 17 June 2007, about 300 people gathered in Barcelona to protest police repression, under a banner that read “la represió mai ens tallerá les ales,� Repression will never cut our wings. The demo was organized by several antirepression groups, the Zapatista solidarity group, support groups for several political prisoners, and the squatters' assembly of Barcelona. Early in the demo the police arrested someone who refused to identify himself. After a number of speeches the march set out from Plaza Universitat, heading towards the top of Las Ramblas. An aim of the demo was to protest the police strategy, begun about two months ago, of completely surrounding and halting every radical protest. The police provocation is intended to control protests to prevent property destruction, and discourage protesting in general by punishing anyone who participates with the tense, frustrating experience of being surrounded and effectively detained en masse for hours.
The strategy may have attained results already, as this protest was significantly smaller than was hoped. And shortly after the march set off, 450 riot cops surrounded it, permitted it to go two blocks, and bottled it up. A police helicopter hovered overhead, and a caravan of at least 30 police vans, taking up more space than the march itself, followed the protestors. And for the next several hours, the demo remained surrounded at the corner of the Plaza de Catalunya, where it proved to be quite an attraction for tourists and locals. In the end, the surreal scene they created backfired for police. The harmless and calm group of protestors chanted: “This is your democracy!� and “Freedom of Expression, No Police!� while the legions of armed cops backed by helicopter and sinister vans with flashing lights surrounded them, refusing to let people out, and occasionally attacking people on the edge (they refrained from making arrests, aware that the entire protest would fight back and chaos would break out). It was an ample demonstration of the police state, and thousands of people, a great many more than were in the actual demonstration, flocked to watch. Soon, people in the crowd began getting bottles of water, crackers, sandwiches, and throwing them over the line of riot cops into the cheering throng of corralled protestors. These were more than tokens of solidarity, they were so numerous as to keep the entire demo well fed and watered. The crowd behind the police began arguing with them, joining in the chants of the protestors, leading some people on the inside to yell at the police “We have you surrounded, surrender!� At one point some demonstrators threw one of their banners to the crowds on the outside, who unfurled it and spread the protest beyond the police lines. The riot cops soon responded by charging this group of people repeatedly, further driving home the protestors criticisms about the police.
Finally, half of the police withdrew in anticipation of the hooligans who would be hitting the streets at the end of a major football match occuring the same day. At this point, the protestors were able to leave without incident.

El problema que hi ha Pep, són els antidisturbis que rebien ordres dels seus superior d'encerclar i privar el dret de manifestar-se de 300 persones amb el pretext de ser gent ultraviolenta amb facilitat de crear disturbis. Mossos habien de procurar nomes que la manifestació no avances, impedir l'entrada o sortida de qualsevol violent que estigues dins o a fora. Si ens regim per aquesta norma, lo que cal fer es prohibir totes les manifestacions, així segur que cap desenvocara en disturbis. Hi ha moltes maneras de controlar una manifestació, la que va succeir ahir no és l'adeqüada, no fa gracia estar gairabe 3 horas encerclat per armaris uniformats que qualsevol intent de sortir era respost amb una kubonatada o amb una empenta.
Les responsabilitats s'han d'exigir als "jefes", qui donava ordres als antidisturbis que hi eren. es legal retenir a 300 manifestants? si ho és perque la policia té dret a fer-ho per la seguretat pública, lo que diu la autoritat va a misa, per tant si desobeixes a la autoritat cop de porra o detingut per desordres publics. Així funciona la democracia i la policia. Barcelona ciutat policial, una mica exagerat, ja que això nomes succeix a les manis okupes o que estiguin relacionats amb els okupes, en les altres manifestacions no passa res d'això. L'antitaurina ni nolt menys es va prohibir ni es va fer un desplegament policial tant exagerat, per tant barcelona ciutat policial no ho vec molt adeqüat.
El setge nomes existeix en els moviments alternatius que la policia té classificat com a violents. Lo que cal fer es seguir donant aquesta imatge de moviments alternatius radicals i pacifics. La policia té dret a fer lo que va fer, encara que jo personalment no ho trobi just, pero si seguim deixant malament les actuacions policials, guanyarem moltissim. Com van dir ahir, no hem de caure a les provocacions. |

La policia és part del problema; no és la sulució de res.
No hi ha policia bo; darrera de cada policia hi ha un nazi camuflat de demòcrata.
Mort a l´estat i a tots aquells òrgans dels quals se serveix l´estat per oprimir-nos.
