Hello people!
We are the occupants of El Castillo, the little castle in Les Planes (on the outskirts of Barcelona). We took this place about two and a half years ago and since then we have been living here and working on restoring this place, from a complete ruin back to the state of an inhabitable building.that process is still ongoing and proberbly will be for quite a while. Our idea is to create in equal parts living and project space for anyone who needs it. Before we moved into it the owners had abandonned the place for more than 35 years. Once we moved in of course they suddenly developed an interest. We have been fighting a legal battle in the courts for the last year and a half. Recently we got an eviction notice dated for the 25 of january. Unfortunatly we are not the only squatters in our neighbourhood concerned by the problem of eviction.
Les Planes, an area that used to be mostly forest with little houses (of which many were squatted), is more and more being turned into a suburb. The forest is getting cut down to make place for development and what's left of it is being cleared out to make a park - nice and clean with no bushes and lots of lighting. An environment suitable for upper middle class and upper class people but not for the myriads of wildlife (and wild people :-) that used to be here. We don't want to let that continue. Lots of houses have been evicted already, more will be in the near future. Today our neighbours, 4 connected houses, two of them housing families with children, have been given eviction notices for the same day as us. Since most houses in this area are rather small and therefore the amount of people living in them is very limited, the chances to resist an eviction are rather small as well. Not so for us. Our building is defendable and we are planing to defend it, if possible in a non-violent way.
If you want to support/help us, just come along at any date and time (if possible before the 25.!!!) There are sleeping places for several people as well as a garden to pitch tents in (be aware, it's pretty cold outside).
The approximate program for the periode around the 25. goes as follows:
from now ongoing :building barricades, securing doors and preparing the house to stop an eventual police force from entering
night to 25th :party with electronic music of various styles, bar with nice selection of affordable
drinks
every day from 25th on (for at least 1 - 2 weeks)
in the days : various activitys, workshops, etc., free vegetarian food
the only one confirmed so far is a linux workshop but be ensured there will be lots
more
in the nights : partys and concerts of all styles of music (If anyone else is interested in playing here, please get in contact with us)
Updates and more exact information on the program will be posted soon. Such as a spanish and catalan version of this text

Hola gente!
Somos los ocupantes de El Castillo, un pequeño castillo situado en Les Planes (en las afueras de Barcelona). Estamos en éste sitio desde hace un par de años y medio. Desde entonces hemos estado viviendo aquí y trabajando en la restauración del sitio, desde el estado ruinoso e inhabitable construcción. Pero éste estado no durará mucho. Nuestra idea ha sido re-habilitar partes iguales, para poder dar cobijo a todo el que lo necesite. Nos informamos que el sitio estuvo abandonado hacía más de 35 años. Una vez empezamos a movernos empezaron a mostrar interés. Estamos involucrados en la batalla legal desde hace año y medio. Recientemente hemos recibido una orden de desalojo para el 25 de enero. Desgraciadamente no somos los únicos ocupas en el vecindario con ésta misma noticia de desalojo.
Les planes , es un área mayormente forestal, con pequeñas casas (dónde muchas son okupadas) que se está volviendo suburbial. El área forestal se está recortando
El área forestal lo están reduciendo para hacer de él un lugar de desarrollo, quieren hacer un parque sin agradable, limpio, sin arbustos y con trozos iluminados. Un ambiente conveniente para que la clase media y alta puedan poblarlo. Pero no para la fauna (y la gente salvaje:-). No dejaremos que continúen. Muchas casas se han desahuciado ya, y más lo serán en un cercano futuro. Hoy nuestros vecinos, 4 casas conectadas, dos de ellas familias con niños, han recivido avisos del desahucio para el mismo día que nosotros. Puesto que la mayoría de las casas en esta área son algo pequeñas y por lo tanto la cantidad de gente que vive en ella es muy limitada, las ocasiones de resistir un desahucio son algo pequeñas también. No tanto para nosotros. Nuestro edificio es defendible y estamos preparándonos para defenderlo, si es posible de una manera no-violenta.
Si tú quieres ayudarnos, ven cuando quieras (mejor si es antes del 25!) hay sitios para que duerma mucha gente, así como sitios para acampar (cuidado hace frío fuera).
El programa aproximado para el 25 es como sigue:
Desde ahora estamos: construyendo barricadas, puertas de seguridad y preparando las casas para que la policía no pueda entrar.
La noche del 25. Fiesta con música electrónica de varios estilos, con bar y bebidas.
Cada día a partir del 25 (por lo menos una o dos semanas): Actividades varias como talleres y comida vegetariana. El único que podemos confirmar es un taller de Linux pero lo más seguro serán las noches: fiestas y conciertos de todos los estilos de música (si cualquier persona está interesado en pinchar aquí, que se ponga en contacto con nosotros. Las actualizaciones y una información más exacta sobre el programa serán publicadas pronto. Por ejemplo una versión castellana y catalana de este texto.
